The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It could get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin, which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
